So, according to a select group of believers the world will end next Saturday.
I have already heard of people using their life savings to advertise on subways. And if it is anything like the last time this old man predicated the end (yes, he has said this before) then people are using their life saving to travel the world. At least it is good for the economy.
I have a small group of coworkers that I get together with occasionally for things like game night, drinks and dinner out, and most recently themed dinners.
Last night we made 4 types of pizzas (I was the head chef), with 3 types of crusts and a bunch of different toppings. It was really nice to hang out together with a predetermined ‘no work talk’ plan.
In addition to great food and drinks, the conversation shifted to planning a Las Vegas trip together. Although I have been to Vegas a variety of times I have never been with a group of friends with the intention of seeing a show and letting loose in the streets. I could see it being a pretty great trip regardless of my distaste for Vegas most of the time.
Friday was the 3rd SF Bike Party.
It was a route that created a lot of controversy, as it went through unsafe areas of SF, while also following train tracks that left lots of riders on the ground. At one point a biker had to be taken away in an ambulance, but I don’t know the details of why.
Not knowing SF and that the area I was riding through weren’t the safest I was focused more on the group on the ride and the individuals not on the ride who were stoked to see us. Plus, the stopping point at Candlestick Point had an amazing view, and when arrived and rode around in circles as a group- it really doesn’t get better than that.

I don’t listen to the radio except when I am at work. And every time a Regina Spektor song comes on I think ‘Who is this? I love her voice’.
It just makes me happy.
I love Portland. It is very much a bubble of a place, but regardless there is something about the defined culture of Portland that I love. When I travel there I never want to leave. Thus I think about moving there quite often.
A new show Portlandia is a humorous look at Portland through the characterization of some of the types of people in Portland.
I saw this clip the other day, and got a new found appreciation for the show.
Monday I am going to see With My Own Two Wheels, www.withmyowntwowheels.org
The film weaves together the stories of 5 individuals from Zambia, Ghana, India, Guatemala, and Santa Barbara into a single narrative about the bicycle as a vehicle for change.
And of course this month’s East Bay Bike Party and their cleverly themed mustache ride.
