Oregon Roadtrip Part 3

September 2, 2013

After leaving the farm I headed north west to the northern most part of the Oregon Coast- Astoria.

I wanted to go to Astoria because I am a huge Goonies fan and it felt like starting at the top would make the most sense.

In Astoria is the best fish and chips- Bowpickers, a boat parked on a hill across from the Maritime Museum.  The looong line was well worth the wait.

My plan was the camp and bike around Fort Stevens State Park, an incredible place with a network of bike trails through spruce and hemlocks, and even a shipwreck.  But with summer still busy it’s camping spots were full so I headed south.  I ended up in Cannon Beach, a place I pulled off randomly to, which ended up being the place to stop- a beautiful beach full of sand dollars, art galleries, and lots of happy people!

I stayed in Cannon Beach for the night, and then traveled south visiting the Tillamook Cheese Factory- yum to the 3 year aged white cheddar; and the Yaguina Head Lighthouse.  Then I was off to Bend!

Infinity scarf

I found a very simple sewing project for making fun colorful infinity scarfs while exploring pinterest.  Since then I have made three for bday gifts, and of course one for myself.

Had my second session (3 hours). Got the shading and the majority of the coloring done. Only one small session to go.
I couldn’t be happier with the end product.

Tide Pool tattoo

totalI have been wanting a tide pool tattoo for over 5 years. I have been waiting for a tattoo artist whose work represented the perfect combination of the fine details of nature and a personal creativity.
I finally found Camille at Chimera Tattoo in Santa Cruz. Had the outline tattooed yesterday. Color to follow in April.

Leather tooling class

October 8, 2012

I took a leather tooling class at Paco Collars-in Berkeley-

I made a flower patch, that I added to my bicycle club jacket.

I am currently working on a bracelet with a tooled acorn and leaf design, and just finished making a necklace from a small leaf design.

Why I am afraid of open water…

May 9, 2011

I went to a friend’s art show in SF the other night.

I rode my bike through the windy streets and ended up getting lost.  Thankfully I asked the right person for directions-he took me almost all the way to the gallery. And for that, I say thank you handsome stranger.  I’d probably have ridden around San Francisco for another 40 minutes confused with out your help.
