TILT, again

Ouija Boards

There is a childhood curiosity related to spirits and ghosts- the unknown lurking under your bed or in your closet that the ouija board holds for me.  It reminds me of sleep over parties with my girlfriends, and moving the oracle to see your friend’s faces overcome with fear and disbelief.  And on top of it all the hope that maybe there really is something more than meets the eye.

Cats

I have had a pet cat since I was 3 years old.  Shadow, my first cat was my best friend.  Always there to comfort me when nothing else would.  Her meow upon entering a room always put  smile on my face.  To this day, even if my cats are meowing aggressively for food, I smile at their vocalizations.  They are the ultimate cuddlers, greeting me at the door when I come home, and purring in my ear when I go to sleep.  Truly, the best type of pet around.

Book Shelves

They are the perfect combination of organization and the display of something you love.  Set into a home it speaks of someone who is read and wants to be reminded of knowledge and creativity.

End of the world

May 17, 2011

So, according to a select group of believers the world will end next Saturday.

I have already heard of people using their life savings to advertise on subways.  And if it is anything like the last time this old man predicated the end (yes, he has said this before) then people are using their life saving to travel the world.  At least it is good for the economy.

Get aways

The weather has changed dramatically, which is causing me to take a step back from continual thoughts of camping outdoors.  Although I am sure the rain will cease soon and the sunshine will be back to entice me, it is hard to picture being outside next to a fire when it is pouring outside.

I would like to escape here though, get a sense of nature but with some shelter.

EBBP- 1 yr Bday Ride

May 14, 2011

The ride last night was amazing.  Aside from a break mishap which was quickly fixed thanks to some handy bike mechanics, the ride went smooth.  The spots allowed for playing on playgrounds and catching up with friends.

Looking forward to benefit ride/event at the end of the month involving bikes, beer, music and prices.

Have a mentioned that I love the East Bay!?

East Bay BIKE PARTY – turning 1

May 11, 2011

This Friday marks the one year anniversary of the East Bay Bike Party.  The rides have taken us all around the East Bay; caused us to don lights, Santa Hats, dress like pirates and hillbillys, and paint our faces like zombies; yell “Bike Party!” loudly; dance with strangers and share beers at our party stops.  Although I hoped we would take advantage of the Friday the 13th date by dressing like Jason Voorhies or blood covered victims, it looks like celebrating it as a one year birthday is in order.  I suppose I will do a balloon or a bike wrapped in birthday wrapping paper instead… or maybe a raggedy ann cake like I had at my first birthday.

Last night I joined a small group for the pre-ride, and can honestly say it is gonna be a great one.  Rumors of a band are even floating around.

So if you are in the Bay Area, get on your bike and get your ass to 12th Street Oakland at 7:30/8pm on Friday.

strangers

I went to a friend’s art show in SF the other night.

I rode my bike through the windy streets and ended up getting lost.  Thankfully I asked the right person for directions-he took me almost all the way to the gallery. And for that, I say thank you handsome stranger.  I’d probably have ridden around San Francisco for another 40 minutes confused with out your help.
